How to Achieve Your New Year’s Resolution with Small Steps and a Bold 2030 Vision
Every January, millions of people set New Year’s resolutions—lose weight, start a business, learn a new skill. Yet most fail by February. Why? Because we aim for massive change overnight. The truth is, lasting success comes from small, consistent steps combined with a long-term vision.
Here’s a short video I created sharing my thoughts on this year’s resolutions:
Why Small Steps Matter
Big goals with aggressive timelines often fail. Life gets busy, priorities shift, and suddenly your resolution is shelved. You might even think, “I tried before, and it didn’t work.”
Instead of trying to transform your life in one giant leap, break your goal into micro-steps that are flexible and achievable. For example:
- Instead of “Run a marathon,” start with “Walk 15 minutes daily.”
- Instead of “Save $10,000,” begin with “Save $50 weekly.”
These small wins build momentum, create habits, and boost confidence. Incremental progress is the secret to sustainable change.
Set a Life-Changing Goal for 2030
Small steps keep you grounded, but a bold long-term goal keeps you inspired. Ask yourself:
- Where do I want to be in 2030?
- What passions drive me?
- What impact do I want to make?
- What can I start doing in 2026 to achieve it by 2030?
Your 2030 vision should align with your true purpose—whether it’s launching a business, writing a book, or achieving financial freedom.
Reverse Engineer Your Dream
Once you define your big goal, work backward:
- Break the vision into yearly milestones.
- Create monthly and weekly actions.
This approach turns an overwhelming dream into a clear, actionable roadmap.
Stay Flexible and Celebrate Progress
Life changes—your goals might too. Adapt without losing sight of your vision. And celebrate every small win. Even if you have to create your own celebration, do it! Trick your brain into releasing “happy hormones” like dopamine and serotonin. Just as people hit the gym to build muscle, you can train your mind to stay motivated.
Celebrate every milestone. Progress fuels motivation and keeps you moving forward.
Bottom Line
To achieve your New Year’s resolution and prepare for a life-changing 2030 goal, start small today. Pair micro-actions with a bold vision, and you’ll create a future aligned with your passions and purpose.
My 2026 Resolution and 2030 Goal
How can I ask you to follow this advice if I don’t follow it myself? Here’s mine:
I recently published my book Party Crash Your Career & Life: Be Bold, Risk Safely, and Succeed Without an Invitation. I’ve developed a keynote based on its core message and worked with top speaking coaches like Michael Kerr. It’s received amazing feedback, but it’s still unknown. So in 2026, I’ll launch a marketing campaign to make this keynote widely recognized. My 2030 goal? For this keynote to be as well-known as my safety keynotes. Hold me to it!
What’s your short-term and long-term goal? Share it with me anytime! We can even jump on a call to discuss. Let’s make 2026 the year of progress—and 2030 the year of transformation.
